Campaign Finance Services: Our Story
Brett J. McRae, the proprietor of Campaign Finance Services, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and his Juris Doctor degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing. He has been licensed to practice law since 1988.
From 1988 until 2003, Brett served as a legislative counsel to the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate. During this time Brett worked extensively with the Michigan Campaign Finance Act and the Michigan Election Law, analyzing the legal and political impact of proposed legislation.
In 2003 Brett formed Campaign Finance Services (CFS). Starting from just a couple of candidates and PACs, CFS has grown to serve a wide variety of committees, including several state legislators and their leadership PACs, a major caucus PAC, local officeholders, union and advocacy group PACs, ballot question committees, 527 organizations and IRC 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations.
CFS has provided services to candidates for city council, school board, county commission, state representative, state senator, district and circuit judge, supreme court justice, congressional representative, attorney general and governor.
CFS has always worked to cultivate a reputation for integrity among its clients, compliance authorities and the public. We believe every voter has a right to timely and accurate campaign finance information so they can cast an informed vote. We believe everyone in politics owes the public a duty of honesty and good faith compliance with campaign finance laws.
